S?ulenhalle (Hall of Columns)

Made with Bryce

Created by Horo

The hall is made of 210 symetric lattices for the columns, 6 cubes, partly reflecting and partly transparent and 4 radial lights, 3 of which are negative. The balls consist of 3'888 2D-Disks, 3 spheres and 3 radial lights. Note the reflections and the shadows. Slight colour adjustments in PS.

- It's not somewhere I'd like to go - let's put it like that! The collums look kinda distressingly organic and the colour scheme is, frankly, putrid. So full marks for experimental technique exploration, but that has to be tempered by the fact you created a nightmare scene.

- Great job using lights and PS! I agree with David. The orange gamma, the textures on the lattices brought to the scene interesting raw "organic" look. It IS some sort of a nightmare scene. That's why I DO like it so much. The blurry reflections (on the floor) combined with these well defined columns in front are creating the "dream" effect. I feel like I can reach and touch a lattice but my attention is distracted by my own unclear reflection below. And then I'm scared and I'm runnin' and runnin' and runnin'...!

- Thanks for your comments. It is an uneasy thing, indeed, the bright friendly and warm colour does not help. Those organic columns werde used in Abomination, too. What made me think this as extraordinary are the shadows cast by the columns: it gives a quality of geometry and sketchiness, which surprised me. I'm fascinated (though not pleased) by the rough reflecting ceiling and floor. In a nutshell, I think this is a very ugly picture not easily dismissed.
